Recognized again for leadership in diversity and inclusion

DiversityInc names Kaiser Permanente to its Top 50 Hall of Fame for the fifth year in a row.

At Kaiser Permanente, you’ll find diversity and inclusion throughout our organization — in our exam rooms, hospitals, and call centers, among our administrative employees and leadership, and even in the way we make business purchasing decisions. We know that having a diverse and inclusive workforce reflective of our communities builds trust and makes Kaiser Permanente a better place to receive health care, a better partner in the communities we serve, and a better place to work.

We’re proud that we were named to the DiversityInc Top 50 Hall of Fame for the fifth year in a row.

The distinction recognizes our focus on diversity and inclusion in hiring, retaining, and promoting women, people of color, veterans, people with disabilities, and people in the LGBTQ community. Since 2012, companies have been eligible for the Hall of Fame after earning a number 1 spot on DiversityInc’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity list. We earned the number 1 spot in 2011 and 2016.

Our commitment to ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity is reflected in our senior management and boards of directors, as our boards are 38% women and 38% people of color. We’re also committed to advancing diversity at every level of our organization. In 2021, nearly 69% of our organization’s total workforce were people of color, and 73% were women.

To support our efforts to build a highly inclusive, engaged, and psychologically safe workplace, we’ve introduced Belong@KP, an action-focused awareness and behavior change program designed to help the people of Kaiser Permanente learn and demonstrate inclusive behaviors and combat racism and social injustice. This program helps our people recognize biases in their thinking and actions and gives them tools to think and act more inclusively. Through Belong@KP we will also embed inclusive and equitable practices into how we identify, recruit, develop, mentor, assess, and retain diverse talent.
