Olympia and Tacoma medical centers earn top honors

Kaiser Permanente facilities in Washington’s South Sound have been honored in regional awards for excellence in urgent care and medical facility services.

Kaiser Permanente’s Olympia Medical Center and Tacoma Medical Center have been recognized by readers of The Olympian and The Tacoma News Tribune as being among the region’s top health care providers. In the 2025 Best of South Sound awards, Olympia Medical Center earned bronze in the “Best Hospital” category and silver in “Best Urgent Care or Walk-In-Clinic.” In the 2025 Best of Pierce County awards, Tacoma Medical Center earned gold in “Best Medical Facility” and silver in “Best Urgent Care or Walk-in-Clinic.”

“The teams at our Olympia and Tacoma medical centers exemplify what makes Kaiser Permanente special — compassionate, coordinated care delivered by people who truly care,” said Cynthia Dold, regional president of Kaiser Permanente in Washington. “We’re deeply proud of their dedication and the meaningful impact they make in the lives of our members and the broader community every single day.”

Every member of our team is committed to delivering exceptional care you can trust.

Olympia and Tacoma medical centers are known for their welcoming environment and patient-first care, with longtime members returning for the personalized attention and support they receive from staff. Care team members comprised of doctors, nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants, specialists, radiologists, and lab members tailor every interaction to meet the unique needs of each patient — ensuring they feel seen, heard, and supported throughout their care journey.

“This award from our members and the community means so much to us,” said Raj Sundar, MD, district medical director for Tacoma Medical Center. “Our teams consistently go above and beyond to put our members first, and their dedication is reflected in every patient experience.”

“Being recognized by our communities is a meaningful reflection of the trust our patients place in us every day,” said Alina Plavsky, MD, district medical director for Olympia Medical Center. “These honors celebrate the compassionate, personalized care our teams deliver — where every patient is seen, heard, and supported throughout their health journey.”

‘Best Hospital’ recognition

While Olympia Medical Center and Tacoma Medical Center are not inpatient hospitals, their wide range of outpatient specialties — from allergy and dermatology to cardiology and cancer care — make them valued health care destinations. All services are coordinated under one roof, offering convenience and continuity for patients.
