Nursing excellence recognized at Fontana Medical Center
The prestigious Magnet® designation affirms the compassion, dedication, and technical expertise that goes into the care we provide for patients and their families.
Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center has been awarded Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for its excellence in nursing professionalism, teamwork, and quality patient care. Widely recognized as the “gold standard” of nursing excellence, Magnet distinction honors hospitals that emphasize optimal patient outcomes and exemplary nursing practices in a culture that allows nurses to flourish.
“To earn Magnet recognition is a great accomplishment,” said Raye Burkhardt, RN, chief nurse executive at Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center. “Magnet status demonstrates our unwavering commitment to meeting and delivering the highest standards in nursing care. I am honored to work with such an amazing team of nurses at Fontana Medical Center.”
With this credential, Fontana Medical Center joins the select group of Magnet-recognized health care organizations. Fewer than 10% of hospitals in the United States have achieved Magnet status, which requires a rigorous and lengthy application process that demands widespread participation from hospital leadership and staff.
Eight other Kaiser Permanente facilities in Southern California carry the Magnet designation. Magnet designations last 4 years and facilities can reapply for redesignation thereafter. Recent Magnet designations were given to these Southern California Kaiser Permanente medical centers:

- 2021 – Los Angeles Medical Center
- 2021 – Downey Medical Center
- 2018 – Anaheim Medical Center
- 2017 – Irvine Medical Center
