The gold standard of nursing excellence

Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center achieves Magnet status, the highest distinction recognizing nursing excellence.

Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center has earned Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for its excellence in nursing care, collaboration, and patient outcomes. This credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice, and a benchmark for the quality of care patients receive.

“Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence,” said Leila Ibushi-Thompson, chief nurse executive, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center. “We’re honored to be recognized for our dedication, teamwork, and superior care. We continue to be fiercely committed to the professional practice of nursing and to provide exceptional care every day.”

As a Magnet hospital, Baldwin Park Medical Center joins an elite group of health care institutions. Less than 10% of hospitals in the United States have achieved Magnet status, which requires a lengthy application and rigorous evaluation process that demands widespread participation from hospital leadership and staff.

Six other Kaiser Permanente facilities in Southern California carry the Magnet designation. The Kaiser Permanente Orange County Irvine and Anaheim medical centers received Magnet recognition in 2017 and 2018, respectively; Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center were awarded in 2021; and Kaiser Permanente Orange County Irvine Medical Center received a second Magnet designation in 2021. Most recently, Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center achieved the designation in 2022.

“We’re thrilled to be named a Magnet hospital,” said Eugene Cho, senior vice president and area manager, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park service area. “This honor is a result of our nurses’ commitment to extraordinary patient care every day. We’re so proud of our nurses.”

Research demonstrates that achieving Magnet recognition provides specific benefits to health care organizations and their communities, such as higher patient satisfaction and higher job satisfaction among nurses.

This coveted accolade reaffirms Kaiser Permanente’s dedication to exceeding expectations in patient and family-centered care, professionalism, integrity, compassion, excellence, and teamwork.
