Our dedication to fostering well-being and equity

The 2023 Kaiser Permanente Southern California Community Health County Snapshots highlight our commitment to fostering healthier communities.

Over $1 billion was invested in Southern California community partners to enhance well-being and equity in 2023.

The Kaiser Permanente Southern California Community Health County Snapshots highlight our commitment to improving community health. In 2023, we invested $1,044,938,540 in communities across Southern California.

By working alongside community organizations, public health colleagues, and staff to address social factors that influence health and expand access to care, we maximize our impact on improving the well-being of people and families in the communities we serve.

Partnering for a healthier future

Our community partnerships seek to improve health and equity by reducing and preventing homelessness, supporting diverse small-business growth, enhancing individual financial health, partnering with safety net providers, and promoting resilient schools.

We created 6 individual county snapshots to share examples and stories of how Kaiser Permanente staff, leaders, nurses, and physicians are helping to address unique community health challenges in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties.

These highlights describe our dedication to enhancing the health of our communities in Southern California:

  • Kaiser Permanente supports a wide range of investments, initiatives, and partnerships to positively impact social factors and conditions in our communities. Our efforts to influence the health of communities include creating economic opportunity; addressing affordable housing and support for unstable housing; improving access to nutritious food, education, and mental health resources; and creating more access to health care for people with limited means.
  • Kaiser Permanente in Southern California invested more than $1 billion in 2023 to address social health challenges and improve community health. This investment includes our growth in the Medi-Cal program, medical financial assistance, and charitable health coverage; a continued commitment to education and research for health professions; and expansion of our charitable grants program.
  • Kaiser Permanente partners with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group to provide care to members. These efforts include working together to co-locate the Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling and Learning Center with the new Kaiser Permanente Watts Medical Offices, and our partnership on the Hippocrates Circle programs and the Summer Youth Employment program.
