Ronald Copeland, MD, named as chief diversity officer

“Diversity” and “inclusion” are two buzzwords often heard in many settings and across industries. At Kaiser Permanente, these words are more than trends. Diversity and inclusion are a vital part of our history and a key to our organizational success today. Ronald Copeland, MD, FACS, senior vice president and chief Diversity and Inclusion officer since 2013, has championed Kaiser Permanente’s diversity and inclusion agenda as a critical element of the organization’s overall strategic goals. Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized Dr. Copeland as one of “15 hospital and health systems chief diversity officers to know.”

Dr. Copeland joins the impressive list of chief diversity officers who were selected from all across the country’s respected hospitals and health systems. They come from various backgrounds, but all share a dedication to advancing diversity and inclusion practices.

“The planning and execution of diversity and inclusion initiatives are valuable and instrumental in creating environments where everyone feels accepted and heard,” said Dr. Copeland. “Becker’s Hospital Review highlights handfuls of diversity officers in the health care space, and I am proud Kaiser Permanente is part of a group that is working to drive this important work forward.”
