RENTON, Wash. — Kaiser Permanente Washington, one of the state’s largest integrated nonprofit health care organizations, has announced that Shari Hofer is joining the boards of directors of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Options, Inc.
“Shari is renowned for her strategic leadership and transformative vision. With more than two decades of marketing and communications expertise, Shari has a passion for technology and a proven track record of building high-performing and high-quality organizations,” said Janet Liang, chair, board of directors, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington. “Shari was a natural choice for a board member. Her insights and background will provide a valuable perspective on digital evolution and leveraging technology to better serve Kaiser Permanente members.”
Throughout her career, Hofer has been a driving force behind digital transformations for major global companies, leveraging her expertise in strategic branding, customer engagement, and emerging technologies. Presently, she is a strategic advisor to startup organizations and a coach and speaker for caregivers.
Hofer previously served as executive vice president and chief marketing, communications, and sustainability officer of Wiley, a global leader in publishing, education, and research. Prior to that, she served as senior vice president of marketing, leading strategic transformation of Wiley's largest business unit.
Hofer also previously served as vice president of marketing and special services with Educurious, a nonprofit funded by the Gates Foundation, and vice president of marketing and education for Rosetta Stone, a market leader in online language literacy. Hofer also serves as a board member for Voxy.
Hofer is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, with a Bachelor of Science in English and political science and a Master of Arts in English literature. Hofer also holds certifications in executive finance, women on boards, and global marketing and strategy.
Hofer’s term on the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Options, Inc. boards began in January 2025.
