Former president and CEO of JetBlue builds on strong Kaiser Permanente boards
OAKLAND, Calif. – David J. Barger, a longtime leader in the aviation transportation industry, has been named to the Boards of Directors for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Hospitals – known as Kaiser Permanente.
Barger is a partner of Connor Capital Transportation Opportunities, a transportation investment fund based in Santa Barbara, California. “David comes to us with a wealth of expertise in business strategy, execution and management,” said Chairman and CEO Bernard J. Tyson. “His knowledge of the consumer perspective and his focus on safety will be instrumental in Kaiser Permanente’s ongoing transformation to an even more consumer-oriented organization.”
Tyson added, “David is an excellent addition to our board and we look forward to his contributions to the future of health and health care.”
"I am honored at the opportunity to join this organization’s boards of directors” Barger said. “Kaiser Permanente is widely recognized for its focus on high-quality service, research and care. I look forward to working with the team as it continues to break new ground in health care."
During his aviation career, Barger was a board member at Airlines for America and the International Air Transportation Association, and chaired the NextGen Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C.
In recognition of his more than 30 years in the industry, Barger was awarded the 2016 L. Welch Pogue Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Aviation Club. He also is committed to the community, serving on the board of Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation – Arnold Palmer’s legacy non-profit public foundation – and PENCIL, a New York-based educational non-profit creating innovative and impactful models of ongoing collaboration between business and public schools. He recently retired from the Flight Safety Foundation board of governors after 15 years of service.
