HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii’s commercial plan leads the state in 60 Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set measures of care including prenatal and postpartum care, breast cancer screening, and multiple diabetes measures, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance Quality Compass.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii was also rated the highest-performing commercial plan in the nation for kidney health evaluation for patients with diabetes.

“By putting our patients at the center of all we do, we’re able to prevent, detect, and treat illness proactively and effectively,” said Karen Ching, MD, assistant area medical director for Quality and Safety at Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii. “This national recognition validates the tremendous dedication of our staff and providers to deliver high-quality integrated care to our members.”

The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set is one of the health care industry’s most widely used measurement tools. The data represents more than 191 million individuals and is used by more than 90% of America's health plans to measure quality and performance.
