HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii announced that it has expanded virtual care services and in-person urgent care services for its more than 264,000 members. The health care organization has extended its urgent care, pharmacy, lab, and general radiology hours at its West Oahu Medical Office and Honolulu Medical Office. The 2 medical offices are now open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Hawaii time as well as weekends and most holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. HT. The Maui Lani Medical Office Urgent Care Department in Wailuku also maintains the same hours of operation.
In addition to expanded in-person urgent care, Kaiser Permanente is also offering its members 24/7 virtual care, known as Get Care Now, by phone or video. Members can access on-demand virtual care from the comfort of their home or office via kp.org or the mobile app through Kaiser Permanente’s Get Care Now platform. This convenient service is best used for nonemergency illnesses or injuries requiring prompt medical attention, including sprains, backaches, flu symptoms, sore throats, earaches, and more. No appointments are required, and members can use either a mobile device or computer for a video visit. Members with health concerns that require an in-person visit will be directed to in-person options such as urgent care, same-day care, or their personal physician, depending on the issue.
“Members now have more ways to access our award-winning care, whenever and wherever they need it,” said John Yang, MD, president and medical director for Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. “We’re dedicated to providing convenient and coordinated care to our members. Whether they call, click, tap, or visit us in person, our members have a seamless and personalized experience, because their entire care team is connected in our integrated model.”
Kaiser Permanente clinicians and members are connected using an electronic health record system, which enables care teams to make timely and well-informed decisions based on a full range of patient information and preferences. Clinicians can also easily coordinate with one another and seamlessly refer patients to other team members, including primary care doctors, specialists, lab technicians, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.
