HONOLULU — For the sixth year in a row, Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center has been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care by the Women’s Choice Award®. This evidence-based designation places Moanalua Medical Center in the top 10% among more than 4,700 U.S. hospitals offering cancer care services.

The America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care award is based on criteria such as the comprehensiveness of diagnostic and treatment services offered, low rates of infection compared to the national average, national accreditations, and female patient satisfaction and preference ratings on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey.

Kaiser Permanente’s multidisciplinary, team-based approach emphasizes all phases of cancer care, from prevention through treatment. Kaiser Permanente recognizes that women have specialized health care needs. Moanalua Medical Center’s cancer care services include a breast care clinic, which provides cancer patients with a coordinated team of oncologists, geneticists, radiologists, surgeons, and support staff who provide comprehensive care under one roof.

“At Moanalua Medical Center, our cancer care team provides high-quality care and support to every patient, every step of the way,” said Jennifer Carney, MD, chief of oncology and hematology for Kaiser Permanente Hawaii. “This national recognition is a testament to the commitment of our whole organization toward prioritizing our patients’ comfort, safety, and survivorship.”

Since 2017, Moanalua Medical Center continues to be accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Accreditation is based on standards of high-quality, coordinated care focusing on the full continuum of cancer treatment, from prevention to survivorship and end-of-life care. Kaiser Permanente’s outpatient oncology practices in Hawaii are also certified in the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative. This national program focuses on quality measures to identify, develop, and implement improvement initiatives with over 150 evidence-based quality measures leading to better care and patient outcomes.

Our cancer care team provides high-quality care and support to every patient, every step of the way.
