Work continues to reach new national agreement

Kaiser Permanente and Alliance enter into third-party mediation to help resolve differences at bargaining table.

This message was sent to Alliance-represented employees on Monday, September 29.

Kaiser Permanente and the Alliance of Health Care Unions continue to work toward a new national agreement.

With the national contract set to expire on September 30, 2025, our focus is on making the most of every remaining hour to reach an agreement. To support this effort, Kaiser Permanente and the Alliance agreed to enter into independent, third-party mediation.

The mediators, which Kaiser Permanente and Alliance leadership jointly approved, are former California Health and Human Services Agency secretary Mark Ghaly, MD, and former Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg.

We are pleased the Alliance agreed on mediation to help drive meaningful progress in these negotiations.

The Common Issues Committee — the full bargaining team — reconvened on September 29, and bargaining is currently scheduled to continue through September 30.

With 45 tentative agreements reached so far, progress in local bargaining, and the support of mediators, we are optimistic we can achieve an agreement. We remain committed to reaching an agreement that recognizes our employees’ contributions, avoids disruption to our members and patients, and enables Kaiser Permanente to be a best place to work and receive care.

Thank you for all you do, each day, to provide high-quality, affordable care for our patients, and for your support of our shared mission to serve our communities.
