HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii held a blessing for its new mobile health vehicle, which will provide health care services to various locations across Oahu. Based at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center, the 40-foot-long vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, 2 full-size exam rooms, a laboratory and medical prep area, and a physician documentation station.

The new mobile health vehicle, staffed with a Kaiser Permanente provider and nurse, is designed to provide a wide range of health care services including primary care, wellness screenings, vaccinations, and counseling to help prevent or manage ongoing conditions. At community events, it can provide free health screenings that include blood pressure, glucose, and body mass index (BMI) assessments.

“The launch of our new mobile health vehicle represents our commitment to providing access to high-quality health care services to our members and the communities we serve,” said Greg Christian, Hawaii Market president, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals. “Taking health care on the road, especially in underserved areas, will reach more people and help reduce health disparities across the island.”

The new mobile health vehicle will be at the Filipino Community Center (FilCom Center) on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

“Mobile health programs have been shown to increase participation in recommended screenings and improve the management of chronic diseases, especially for those who have a hard time getting to a doctor’s office,” said John Yang, MD, president and medical director, Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. “We’re excited that we’re now able to provide high-quality care on wheels with this modern mobile health clinic.”
