Third tentative agreement reached

Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers continue to bargain in Northern California.

Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers met on August 12 at NUHW’s headquarters in Emeryville, California, to continue negotiating a new agreement for Northern California mental health and addiction medicine professionals.

We reached our third tentative agreement, which covers probationary periods for short-hour, temporary, and per-diem employees.

Kaiser Permanente presented a substantial economic proposal with wage increases that will keep our mental health professionals among the highest paid in Northern California, which the union is considering.

Among the proposals presented by NUHW is one seeking additional safety protections for our therapists and other mental health professionals. The union also presented a proposal about job duties and workload distribution, which requires further consideration and discussion.

We continue to focus on reaching an agreement that benefits both our members and staff and ensures continued access to timely, excellent, integrated care.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Thursday, August 14. We will provide you with an update following that session.
