MESSAGE TO OUR
EMPLOYEES
After a 3-week hiatus, 3 tentative agreements were reached.
This message was sent on behalf of Lionel Sims, interim senior vice president, Human Resources, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals; and Priya Smith, chief employee human resources officer, The Permanente Medical Group; to Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California mental health and addiction medicine professionals on Wednesday, December 10.
To our mental health and addiction medicine professionals,
On Monday, December 8, Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers bargaining teams met for the 22nd time to negotiate a new contract for our Northern California mental health and addiction medicine employees.
Monday’s session produced 3 tentative agreements: Professional Hours (Article 15), Professional Practice Committee (Article 31), and Wage Scales (Appendix C).
We engaged the union on 12 proposals and NUHW presented a counterproposal to Union Representation (Article 26). In addition, there were 3 withdrawals collectively between Kaiser Permanente and the NUHW bargaining team.
The NUHW bargaining team shared availability in the latter half of January and early February for additional bargaining sessions, which we are considering. We will meet again on Tuesday, December 16, to continue bargaining in hopes of agreeing on a contract that allows for high-quality, accessible mental health care for our members and patients, and a great workplace for our mental health professionals.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our members and patients.
