Second tentative agreement reached

Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers reached their second tentative agreement, on education leave and tuition reimbursement.

Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers met for the fourth time on July 31 at NUHW’s headquarters in Emeryville, California, to continue negotiating a new contract agreement for our Northern California mental health and addiction medicine professionals.

We are pleased that we reached a tentative agreement regarding education leave and tuition reimbursement, which will increase the reimbursement for travel expenses from up to $750 to a maximum of $1,000.

During the session, our bargaining team presented 2 proposals to change the contract language that aims to improve the health care flexible spending account carryover for active employees and the medical subsidy use for retirees. We also discussed union proposals related to job duties and workload distribution, and posting and filling positions.

We are focused on bargaining in good faith to reach an agreement that benefits you, as well as our members and patients.

The next bargaining sessions are on Tuesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 14, and we’ll provide you with updates after each of those sessions.
