MESSAGE TO OUR
EMPLOYEES
Four proposals were exchanged in 18th bargaining session.
This message was sent on behalf of Lionel Sims, interim senior vice president, Human Resources, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals; and Priya Smith, chief employee human resources officer, The Permanente Medical Group; to Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California mental health and addiction medicine professionals on Friday, October 31.
To our mental health and addiction medicine professionals,
On Thursday, October 30, Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers met to negotiate a new contract for our Northern California mental health and addiction medicine professionals.
We continue to come to the bargaining table in good faith, with the goal of reaching an agreement that supports our mental health professionals, while allowing the flexibility necessary to provide mental health care to members and patients — when and how they need it.
Kaiser Permanente presented 3 counterproposals at the bargaining table on October 30: Retirement Plans (Article 25); Safety (Article 34), which included slight language changes; and Professional Hours (Article 15), from which we removed previously proposed language about partial days off to better align with the union’s proposal.
The NUHW bargaining team presented a counterproposal for Health and Welfare Benefits for Active Employees (Article 22), which is under consideration.
Our next bargaining sessions are Wednesday, November 5, and Monday, November 10. We look forward to building on the progress that has been made to date, in service of our members, patients, and employees.
Thank you for continuing to provide excellent mental health care to our members and patients.
