Care Essentials clinic opens on Hawthorne in Portland, Ore.

Care Essentials is open to the whole community, not just Kaiser Permanente members — weekdays, weekends and holidays.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A new Care Essentials by Kaiser Permanente clinic is now open in the Hawthorne neighborhood. The clinic will provide convenient care to the entire community, Kaiser Permanente members as well as nonmembers.

The new clinic is located at 3060 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Suite 1, Portland OR, 97214, at the corner of SE 31st Avenue and SE Hawthorne Boulevard.

“When you’re not feeling well, or have a child with pink eye, the last thing you want to do is travel across town to see a doctor,” said Jill Bachmann, MD, the lead physician at the Hawthorne clinic. “Care Essentials Hawthorne will make it easier for people who live and work in this area to get quick medical care when they need it.”

Care Essentials clinicians can treat minor illnesses and conditions such as colds, flu, strep throat, pink eye, rashes or urinary tract infections, and minor injuries such as minor burns and abrasions or splinter removals. They also provide well-child exams and checkups. Clinicians may also administer common lab tests and vaccinations for an additional charge during a visit. You can find a complete list of services here: careessentials.org/services

Care Essentials is open every day, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both members and non-members can make appointments online at careessentials.org, by phone at 1-855-235-0491, or by stopping by in person.

There are several easy payment options:

  • Kaiser Permanente coverage: If the patient is a Kaiser Permanente member, they’ll pay their primary care office visit cost share, based on their plan benefits.
  • Other insurance plans: All commercial health insurance plans are accepted and the patient’s insurance provider will be billed. A $25 payment is due at the time of the visit to cover likely cost share/non-covered costs, and the patient will be billed for any balance that their insurance provider does not pay. We recommend contacting the insurance provider to confirm coverage and eligibility before coming.
  • Self-pay: Affordable, easy-to-understand pricing, with most services $140. Add-on services, such as vaccinations, lab tests and injections may have an additional charge. We accept credit and debit cards, including health savings account cards.

Patients who have access to the First Choice Health PPO network through their health plan can be seen at Care Essentials for in-network rates, typically an office visit copay.

Care Essentials also has a Pearl District location, at 1035 NW Northrup St.
