SEATTLE – Kaiser Permanente’s commercial HMO in Washington is the highest-scoring health plan in the nation in the latest eValue8 survey. According to the assessment, Kaiser Permanente’s HMO plan not only received the highest score nationwide, but also scored number 1 in 2 specific categories:

  • Helping members manage acute conditions
  • Helping members manage chronic conditions

Kaiser Permanente also received the highest score for its PPO plan in Washington, in provider measurement and management. Both the HMO and PPO plans also scored well in the delivery of culturally sensitive care and engaging in both national and regional efforts to improve care options.

“During a challenging year, the dedicated people of Kaiser Permanente worked tirelessly to provide highly effective and affordable care in Washington state,” said Susan Mullaney, regional president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington. “While we see this every day in our clinics, we’re proud that the 2020 eValue8 survey recognizes the hard work our staff delivers for our members at Kaiser Permanente in Washington.”

The eValue8 results underscore the importance that Kaiser Permanente’s unique care and coverage model has on patient experience and outcomes. Kaiser Permanente offers members a single integrated health model to meet their health care needs. Primary and specialty care, pharmacy, and labs are usually all under one roof to help make care more convenient. Care is driven by value and effectiveness, not fee for service, and research and continuous innovation mean patients get excellent care.

“At Kaiser Permanente in Washington our clinicians work collaboratively to practice Permanente Medicine, which is focused on providing the best possible outcome for every patient, every time,” said Paul Minardi, MD, president and executive medical director of the Washington Permanente Medical Group. “The results of this survey validate that our care is compassionate, integrated, and patient centered — and why more people in Washington deserve to experience Permanente Medicine.”
