ATLANTA — Kaiser Permanente of Georgia has announced the installation of a new PET and CT scan unit at its Glenlake Comprehensive Specialty Center. This state-of-the-art technology is set to revolutionize diagnostic imaging in Georgia, marking only the second installation of this kind in the state.

The scanner incorporates the newest digital BGO (dBGO) detector material and AI software, improving image quality and detectability of small diseases, cancers and lesions. The new system is designed to optimize efficiency, improve patient experience and increase diagnostic capabilities, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.

Features like rapid data quality assurance, enhanced AI-based automated patient positioning capabilities and streamlined patient setup improve the system's effectiveness.

“This new technology represents a significant advancement in diagnostic capabilities, enabling our team of radiologists to provide more accurate and timely assessments,” said Heidi Veltman, vice president and chief operating officer for Kaiser Permanente in Georgia. “Access to this high-level equipment will not only empower our doctors but will also contribute to saving patient lives.”
