Tentative agreement reached

NUHW ends strike in Southern California and will conduct ratification vote by May 7.

BARGAINING UPDATE

After 9 months of negotiating, Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract covering approximately 2,400 mental health and addiction medicine employees in Southern California. With this tentative agreement, NUHW will cancel their open-ended strike in Southern California, which has lasted more than 6 months.

NUHW will review the tentative agreement with its members and conduct a ratification vote May 5 through May 7. If ratified, the agreement will take immediate effect.

We wish to thank our mediators, Mark Ghaly, MD, and Darrell Steinberg, for their instrumental support during our recent negotiations.

We would also like to acknowledge all who have been involved in helping us reach this tentative agreement that benefits Kaiser Permanente’s employees, members, and patients.
