Working together at the heart of health care

Organized labor is key to who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going.

Kaiser Permanente has a long, proud history of working with labor unions. This history has helped to shape who we are as an organization, as an employer, and as a health care provider.

From our earliest days, labor unions were some of our first and largest customers. Today, Kaiser Permanente has one of the largest unionized workforces in the country, with almost 80% of our employees represented by one of more than 40 different labor unions.

We’re the largest employer of represented health care workers in the country. Our Labor Management Partnership is the largest and longest running in the U.S.

Our people are our greatest strength. We’re proud that our 241,462 employees have chosen to build their careers with us. To achieve our mission, we’re committed to being a best place to work and provide care.

As we look toward the future, we know the next few years will be a time of unprecedented change for health care.

We’re confident that, together with labor unions, we’ll tackle all the critical issues that arise. We’ll continue to lead the way in providing high-quality, affordable care to our members, patients, and the communities we serve.
