We held our third bargaining session virtually with NUHW on Thursday, August 15, to reach a new contract with our Psych-Social Chapter employees.
Bargaining teams opened discussions with the union’s proposal on Patient Management Time. During the afternoon session, Kaiser Permanente delivered a counterproposal to the union’s opening proposal delivered on July 31. The parties also discussed the proposals on Flexible Schedules and Technology.
While the parties did not reach any tentative agreements at this session, to date we have reached 3 tentative agreements.
A primary objective in our bargaining with NUHW is to reach a fair agreement that will be good for our members and our Psych-Social chapter employees. The many issues and needs that have been and will be considered in bargaining require clear and precise discussion of the information to produce the understanding that will allow all parties to reach a multi-year agreement. This process has just begun, and we will move forward with enthusiasm, determination, transparency, and integrity to produce an outcome that will benefit all of us.
We respect and value the care the Psych-Social Chapter employees deliver and how hard the team works to meet our members’ needs. Through continued discussions we believe we can reach an equitable agreement that builds on the highly competitive wages and benefits that Kaiser Permanente offers to recognize the daily contributions the Chapter’s employees make.
We look forward to additional discussion with the union regarding Patient Management Time and other key issues at our next bargaining session scheduled for Tuesday, August 20.
