Jacqueline Baratian is senior vice president and chief compliance and privacy officer for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Hospitals.
Baratian oversees the organization’s commitment to ethics and compliance as we work to provide services that improve the health of Kaiser Permanente’s 12.5 million members. She is responsible for driving effective compliance with regulatory requirements and policies, and leading strategies that embed ethics and compliance into the design and operations of the organization. She also further advances a culture of ethics and compliance across Kaiser Permanente and its workforce of 222,331 employees.
Baratian joined Kaiser Permanente in September 2023, following her leadership as senior vice president and chief compliance officer for nonprofit health system Ascension. In that role, she was responsible for developing and maintaining an effective compliance program across their portfolio.
Before Ascension, Baratian was a partner at Alston & Bird LLP, in Washington, D.C., where she served as outside counsel to health care industry clients on compliance plan development, implementation, and audits, and performed compliance program assessments for hospitals, health systems, and post-acute care providers. She also served as vice president and chief Medicaid compliance officer with Aetna in Bethesda, Maryland, where she oversaw the nationwide Medicaid compliance program. She has had leadership roles with Maxim Healthcare Services and the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.
Baratian earned her law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Bloomington, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Davidson College in North Carolina. She is an active member of the American Health Law Association, where she has held several leadership roles.
