PASADENA, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente’s 2022 Rose Parade® float, “A Healthier Future,” earns the Theme Award for most outstanding presentation of the Rose Parade theme. The 133rd Rose Parade marks the 16th year Kaiser Permanente has participated in the parade.
The float celebrates the dedication and talents of the nation’s health care heroes and the possibilities that exist when passionate people come together to use their expertise for the greater good. The float embodies the 2022 Tournament of Roses® Parade theme, “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” — celebrating that childhood dreams can become careers that make the world a better place.
“Kaiser Permanente is honored to receive the Theme Award, and we hope our float inspires the next generation by honoring our health care workers who show us what is possible every day,” said Greg Adams, chair and chief executive officer, Kaiser Permanente. “Working together and partnering with our communities, we know we can achieve our mission of high-quality, affordable health care, creating a healthier today and tomorrow.”
The float features 4 children exploring, imagining, and daring to dream about one day making a difference in the world:
Designed and built by Fiesta Parade Floats, our 55-foot-long float featured a lush deck garden covered in 15,000 hot pink Floyd roses. Surrounding and framing the deck edge of the entire float was a floral garland of hot pink and orange roses, carnations, lilies, orchids, alstroemeria, and ornamental kale.
Floral designs throughout the float showcased green bells of Ireland, gladiolas, spider poms, and Hypericum. Yellow and orange gerberas, carnations, and lilies completed the designs. At the back of the float were floral displays featuring thousands of lavender liatris, green anthuriums, and purple Mokara orchids.
The books atop the float were crafted from an array of materials. The book covers were adorned with yellow or red strawflower petals, green split peas, green manzanita leaves, and orange dehydrated carrot. The pages were decorated with creamy tan sesame seeds.
