Simon Borger, a licensed clinical social worker, is senior vice president for mental health and addiction care at Kaiser Permanente. In this role, he leads the transformation of Kaiser Permanente’s delivery of evidence-based, outcomes-driven mental health and addiction care therapy and counseling services, in pursuit of being the model of mental health care in the nation.

Borger has been a driving force behind several national transformative initiatives for mental health services on behalf of Kaiser Permanente’s members and workforce. Together with market executives he is responsible for the organization’s approach to mental health and addiction care, coordination of members’ experiences, and development of the workforce.

His collaborative leadership and dedication to operational excellence and evidence-based quality improvement have strengthened our national model of psychotherapy and emotional coaching, ensuring that Kaiser Permanente remains at the forefront of integrated and compassionate care.

Borger is known for his work leading the development and implementation of feedback-informed care for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. Borger has been a strong supporter of collaborative care and leveraging Kaiser Permanente’s integrated model to best meet the mental health and wellness needs of members and patients.

Borger was a clinic-based therapist for Kaiser Permanente for more than 10 years before moving to a management position in 2011. A licensed psychiatric social worker, he received his master’s degree from Tulane University. He has a strong background in performance improvement and received his Six Sigma Black Belt Certification while leading work to improve access and quality for mental health and addiction care.
