Productive session results in 2 new tentative agreements

Kaiser Permanente Southern California and NUHW hold fourth bargaining session.

Kaiser Permanente and NUHW convened virtually on Tuesday, August 20, for our fourth bargaining session. KP and the union spent a substantial portion of the morning session in caucus. During the afternoon session, numerous proposals were exchanged with the union submitting revised contract proposals in the following subject areas:

  • New Technology
  • Transfer Policies
  • Associates

Kaiser Permanente submitted counterproposals in the following subject areas:

  • Seniority Policies
  • Appendix A (Job Descriptions)
  • Flexible Work Schedules
  • Distribution of Agreement and Notice to Union of New Employees
  • New Technology
  • Associates

As a result of Tuesday’s session, KP and NUHW signed 2 new tentative agreements — Reduction in Force and Appendix A (Job Descriptions).

We’re making progress in these discussions. And while we’re aware there is still much more work to do, we’re listening and engaging with NUHW to reach an agreement that values our outstanding mental health and addiction medicine clinicians and allows us to continue providing our members excellent, affordable mental health care.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Thursday, August 29, with 3 more dates agreed to on September 4, September 16, and September 24. KP also proposed — and NUHW accepted — an additional bargaining date of Monday, September 30.
