Kaiser Permanente and San Diego Wave Fútbol Club educated San Diego youth on fitness and holistic well-being.
Kaiser Permanente and San Diego Wave Fútbol Club hosted the third “Wave of Wellness” Fit Clinic to inspire more than 40 San Diego young people to nurture healthy habits to achieve total health and wellness. During the clinic, Sierra Enge, Wave FC midfielder, and Brittany Crane, MD, Pediatrics, Kaiser Permanente Vandever Medical Offices, led interactive programs focused on the “Five Pillars of Health,” which are sleep, nutrition, activity, mental health, and social connectedness.
"This clinic marked a wonderful collaboration between Kaiser Permanente and the Wave Fútbol Club, merging the passion for soccer with a resolute commitment to health and wellness." Michelle Gaskill-Hames, regional president, Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Hawaii.
The partnership between Kaiser Permanente and San Diego Wave Fútbol Club uses soccer to engage youth in discussions about their physical and mental health. It’s one of the ways Kaiser Permanente is working to create a healthier future for the San Diego community.
"We firmly believe that by instilling healthy habits at an early age, we are laying the foundation for a healthier community. Our collaboration with San Diego Wave allows us to reach young minds and inspire them to make choices that will lead to a lifelong journey of well-being," said Michelle Gaskill-Hames, regional president of Kaiser Permanente in Southern California and Hawaii. "This clinic marked a wonderful collaboration between Kaiser Permanente and the Wave Fútbol Club, merging the passion for soccer with a resolute commitment to health and wellness.”
At the event, Enge shared how she safeguards her physical well-being while pursuing her athletic dreams. This discussion and practical tips from Kaiser Permanente helped the participants expand their knowledge and build a toolkit that the youth can tap into for managing their health needs. A friendly game of soccer was also part of the clinic, as participants took to the field to show their soccer skills and to practice training drills. As the Kaiser Permanente and Wave FC partnership continues to equip young people with the knowledge and practical skills to pursue healthy lives, it also promises a brighter and healthier future for the San Diego community.
