Jim Simpson is the president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Georgia, Inc. In this role, Simpson oversees all aspects of the care delivery and health plan operations in Georgia. The Georgia Region operates medical centers and has more than members.
Simpson reports to the group president for markets outside of California, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Hospitals.
Simpson joined Kaiser Permanente in 1997.
During his more than 20 years with Kaiser Permanente, Simpson has served in a number of areas, including finance, operations, accounting, regulatory compliance, and information technology. Prior to his current role, Simpson was senior vice president of finance for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals.
For 5 years he served as vice president and controller for Kaiser Permanente in Northern California, responsible for regional accounting and financial reporting functions. In addition, he had statewide responsibility for property/construction accounting and enterprisewide responsibility for capital assets Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Simpson worked in both the audit practice and consulting group of Deloitte & Touche, LLC, as well as for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Active in the community, Simpson serves on the executive committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, The Woodruff Arts Center Board of Trustees, and The Carter Center Board of Councilors, and is a director at the Buckhead Coalition. He also serves as a board member for Diabetes Youth Families, which works to educate children, teens, and families affected by type 1 diabetes through programs and camp experiences.
Simpson obtained his master’s degree in accounting from the University of North Texas and bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from Southern Methodist University.
