Dave Underriner is president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals of Hawaii. He leads all health care and health plan operations, serving the organization’s more than 255,000 members and the communities where they live on Kauai, Hawaii Island, Maui and Oahu.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in May 2018, Underriner spent 35 years with Providence Health & Services, a not-for-profit network of hospitals, health plans, physicians, clinics and affiliated health services. There he held multiple leadership positions in the organization’s Oregon region, including executive vice president and chief executive officer.
As regional CEO, Underriner was responsible for strategy and operations for Providence’s Oregon region. He also worked closely with Providence’s health plan operations in Oregon and directed shared services, specialty pharmacy, mergers and acquisitions, and community benefit activities.
Underriner holds a master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Washington and a bachelor of science degree from Oregon State University. He has served on the boards of directors for the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, Oregon Health Leadership Council, the Oregon State University Foundation and Volunteers of America, in addition to being involved with many other professional and community-based associations.
