360,438 members helping scientists make important discoveries

Participating in the Kaiser Permanente Research Bank helps scientists make discoveries that lead to more healthy life years for our members and communities.

Donating a blood sample today can help answer important health care questions in the future.

The goal of the Kaiser Permanente Research Bank is to improve the health of our members and community. The Research Bank collects health information and a small blood sample from volunteers. Researchers study this information to support potential health findings and answer questions, such as:

  • What keeps people healthy
  • What makes people sick
  • How to improve treatments
  • How health is affected by the environment (the air we breathe, the water we drink)
  • How health is affected by genes (DNA)
  • How health is affected by behaviors (such as smoking)
  • How we can prevent illness in communities
