Setting a healthy holiday table

With the holidays comes family dinners, parties with friends and the need to come up with festive menus for all sorts of events. Here are a few recipe ideas from our archives to help you set a healthy and tasty holiday table, no matter the occasion.

Start the holiday meal off with this delicious Carrot Ginger Soup. This recipe is incredibly simple and uses no fat, so will provide a welcome respite from the onslaught of holiday treats.

Try this Fennel, Orange and Avocado salad for a beautiful and seasonal starter. The recipe calls for blood oranges, which are just coming into season. Cara Cara oranges are another option if you can't find the blood oranges. In any case, it's a zesty and refreshing taste combination and great for the holiday table.

If you're looking for a vegetarian main course, try this recipe for roasted poblanos stuffed with cranberries, pecans and quinoa.   

Something sweet at the end of a meal is always nice and this recipe for Gingerbread with Meyer Lemon glaze provides a perfect way to conclude a holiday lunch or dinner.
