The member is at the center of everything we do — it’s a mantra Kaiser Permanente employees live by like a heart pumps blood to the body. That guiding principle is also one of many reasons why 38 Kaiser Permanente physicians in Colorado were selected for 5280 Magazine’s “Top Docs” list for 2017.
All of the 38 physicians are part of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group, one of the state’s largest medical groups, serving the 680,000 members of Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. Kimberlly Chhor, MD, Kaiser Permanente orthopedic surgeon in Colorado, was chosen as a “Top Doc” and is featured on the cover of the annual “Top Docs” issue.
“We don’t do it for the awards, but it’s nice to have so many of our exceptional physicians represented on the ‘Top Docs’ list this year,” said Margaret Ferguson, MD, president and executive medical director of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group. “I’m proud of all 1,200 of our physicians and their care teams who work tirelessly to make sure our patients receive the best care available.”
For the past 24 years, 5280 Magazine has surveyed area doctors and asked them, specialty by specialty, which metro-area physicians they’d trust to treat themselves and their families.
Over the past two decades, a number of Kaiser Permanente physicians in Colorado, representing a wide range of specialties, have appeared on this prestigious list. In fact, a fair number of them have appeared on the list multiple years.

“As the industry of health care faces many changes, I’m proud to know our physicians are consistently rated at the top,” said Roland Lyon, president of Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. “Congratulations to all our ‘Top Docs,’ both on and off the list.”
This year’s “Top Docs” issue also features an article on equality of care. The article, by 5280 Magazine writers, mentions Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s E-Consult Program, which allows underserved Coloradans to access Kaiser Permanente physicians and specialists virtually and, in some cases, in-person. A patient who used the program and loved the care he received from his KPCO physician is mentioned in the article.
