6 new physicians join Kaiser Permanente Hawaii

HONOLULU — Six doctors have joined Kaiser Permanente Hawaii facilities on Oahu and Maui. They add to Kaiser Permanente’s award-winning staff of more than 600 health care providers in Hawaii’s largest medical practice, the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, which serves more than 255,000 members in Hawaii.

Christopher Chung, MD

Christopher Chung, MD, is a hospitalist at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, serving as president of the Family Medicine Interest Group. He completed his internal medicine residency at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Selena Goss, MD

Selena Goss, MD, specializes in vascular surgery at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. She received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York and completed her general surgery residency at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s & Mt. Sinai Roosevelt Hospitals in New York, New York. Dr. Goss then served as a vascular surgery fellow at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also holds a master’s degree in medical sciences from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.

Robert Kawa, OD

Robert Kawa, MD, joins the family medicine department at Kaiser Permanente Maui Lani Medical Office. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Kawa completed his family medicine residency at St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency Program in Jacksonville, Florida and a neuromusculoskeletal medicine fellowship program at Florida Hospital East  Program in Orlando, Florida. He is board certified in family medicine.

Ramesh Kumar, MD

Ramesh Kumar, MD, specializes in neurosurgery at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in College Station, Texas, serving as valedictorian. Dr. Kumar completed his neurological surgery residency at University of Colorado Denver, School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado.

Jason Suszko, MD

Jason Suszko, MD, practices dermatology at Kaiser Permanente Honolulu Medical Office. He received his medical degree from the University of Nevada, School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada. Dr. Suszko completed his dermatology residency and pediatric dermatology fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He served as a locum tenens dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente Northwest in Portland, Oregon and Kaiser Permanente Hawaii on the island of Maui. He is board certified in dermatology.

Zachary Thielen, MD

Zachary Thielen, MD, practices orthopaedics at Wailuku Medical Office. He earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, John A. Burns School of Medicine. Dr. Thielen completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California San Francisco and completed a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Hoag Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in Irvine, California.
