Physician string ensemble spreads holiday cheer

Patients, families, and staff members enjoyed a playlist of holiday favorites performed live by Medical Notes, a Kaiser Permanente physician string ensemble.

HONOLULU — Patients, families, and staff members enjoyed a playlist of holiday favorites performed live by Medical Notes, a Kaiser Permanente physician string ensemble, at Kaiser Permanente Mapunapuna Medical Office.

The group holds performances in the Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center lobby. Audiences enjoy a number of holiday favorites, including “Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “The Christmas Song,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and selections from The Nutcracker.

“Our tradition of spreading holiday cheer to members and staff is one we look forward to every year,” said Matthew Lau, MD, chief of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology at Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii. “During this season of giving, we’re grateful for the opportunity to brighten our patients’ lives through music and wish them a happy and healthy new year.”

Medical Notes is comprised of allergist Matthew Lau, MD, pulmonologist Janet Myers, MD, surgeon Rebecca Sawai, MD, and family medicine physician Gary Yap, MD, on violin; internal medicine resident Diana Kim, MD, and audiologist Chantelle Nakata, AuD, on viola; and internist Aaron Choy, MD, on cello.
