Sanwari named SVP, area manager of Woodland Hills

Sanwari brings two decades of Kaiser Permanente leadership experience to Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills.

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. Kaiser Permanente today announced that Murtaza Sanwari has been appointed senior vice president and area manager of the Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills service area, where he will be responsible for all hospital and health plan functions.

Sanwari has nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of roles within Kaiser Permanente. He previously served as chief operating officer for Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center, as well as the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley areas.

“Murtaza brings two decades of Kaiser Permanente leadership experience to Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills,” said Bill Caswell, chief operating officer and senior vice president, Kaiser Permanente Southern California. “He is perfectly suited to lead and build upon ongoing strategic initiatives to enhance care delivery, our facilities, and the member experience in the West San Fernando Valley and Ventura County areas.”

“This is very much of a coming home for me,” said Sanwari. “I grew up in Reseda and Northridge, live in Porter Ranch, and both my children were born at Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center. I am extremely grateful to Kaiser Permanente for the opportunity to serve our members and communities in a such a meaningful way.”

Sanwari joined Kaiser Permanente in 1999, serving in multiple roles at Kaiser Permanente’s Southern California regional offices. He then moved into hospital operations, serving as assistant administrator of support services at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, focusing on operations, market development and strategic ventures, and capital and strategic planning.

Sanwari has a Bachelor of Science degree in health administration from California State University Northridge and a Master of Public Health degree from San Diego State University.
