Expected to open in late 2018, the new 176,000-square-foot administrative building in New Carrollton, Maryland, will have room for approximately 850 employees
ROCKVILLE, Md. — Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States has announced that it will open a new 176,000-square-foot administrative building in the New Carrollton Transit Center in Prince George’s County. The facility will have room for approximately 850 employees.
The facility will accommodate Kaiser Permanente’s robust growth in the region and the continuing demand for the organization’s top-rated, integrated care model, which combines health care and health coverage in one convenient package.
The facility will offer easy Metro access, walkable surroundings, a modern fitness center, on-site dining options, a full conference center and environmentally friendly design. Kaiser Permanente employees will benefit from a state-of-art workspace that supports employee health, well-being, safety, innovation, collaboration and productivity.
“This new building is an exciting reflection of Kaiser Permanente’s continued growth in the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Kim Horn, regional president of Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States. “I am confident employees will love working in this new space, and I am proud that we can be part of such an exciting development in the heart of Prince George’s County, where so many Kaiser Permanente employees and members live.”
The new site marks a major investment by Kaiser Permanente in the New Carrollton Transit Center, which will be a vibrant, mixed-use development that will include a wide range of retail and residential options, as well as a community park.
“Prince George’s County welcomes Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States and their 850 employees to their new home in Urban Atlantic’s development adjacent to the New Carrollton Metro Station,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. "Kaiser's decision today provides the county with what may be the largest single new employer of my administration. The New Carrollton Metro Station is one of the county’s five priority Transit Oriented Development communities.
“It has been exciting to watch New Carrollton grow dramatically over the past five years: joining the Internal Revenue Service and its over 2,500 employees there are the headquarters for Maryland's Department of Housing and Community Development and the relocated and expanded headquarters for 2U, Inc.,” he added. “Now, with the addition of 850 new employees of Kaiser Permanente, this TOD destination is going to continue to grow into a mixed-use regional hub, where our residents can work, live and prosper at one of the most convenient and accessible destinations on the east coast of the United States.”
Construction of the new administrative building will be completed in November 2018.
