HONOLULU — Seven new care providers have joined Kaiser Permanente facilities on Oahu and Hawaii Island. They join more than 600 physicians and other health care providers within the state’s largest medical group, the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, which provides comprehensive care to Kaiser Permanente’s 245,000-plus members in Hawaii.
Roman Acierto, DO, practices psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Health Services–Ala Moana. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California. Dr. Acierto served as chief resident during his psychiatry residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Most recently, he worked as chief of soldier behavioral health services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas. Dr. Acierto is board certified in psychiatry.
Colin Bear, DO, practices hospital medicine at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. He earned his osteopathic degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. A U.S. Navy veteran, Dr. Bear served as a general medical officer and battalion surgeon stationed throughout the U.S. and Afghanistan. Dr. Bear completed his residency in internal medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. He is board eligible in internal medicine.
Jitendra Chadda, MD, joins the internal medicine department at Kaiser Permanente Waipio Medical Office. He earned his medical degree from Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College in Gaya, India, and completed his internal medicine residencies at Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, and LaGuardia Hospital in Forest Hills, New York. Most recently, Dr. Chadda served as center medical director for AdvantageCare Physicians, a primary care and specialty medical group in New York. He is board certified in internal medicine.
Sachin Gandhi, MD, practices family medicine at Kaiser Permanente Hilo Clinic. He received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California, and completed his family medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. Dr. Gandhi is board certified in family medicine.
Jason Merchant, MD, specializes in diagnostic radiology at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. Dr. Merchant received his medical degree from the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, both in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Merchant is board certified in diagnostic radiology.
Raquel Tello, MD, practices hospital medicine at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and completed her internal medicine residency through the University of Hawaii Residency Program. Dr. Tello is board eligible in internal medicine.
Aaron Woofter, MD, joins the gastroenterology department at Kaiser Permanente Mapunapuna Medical Office. He earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Woofter completed his residency and fellowship in gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, Dr. Woofter served as medical director of Duke Gastroenterology of Raleigh in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also served as assistant professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Woofter is board certified in gastroenterology.
