Latest innovation now available to Kaiser Permanente members.
HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii today announced the launch of a new virtual feature available on KP.org, its award-winning integrated member resource website. Through a secured email server, patients can now send digital images to their physicians, including pictures of concerning rashes, wounds or other injuries. This new feature allows patients to quickly provide information to help their physician better manage their condition, and identify potentially serious issues that require a face-to-face visit.
Kaiser Permanente is nationally recognized for innovative healthcare technology and continues to accelerate the adoption of digital healthcare in the state. Online features such as access to lab and X-ray results, prescription refills, appointment scheduling and patient-physician communication are made possible through Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect®, the largest private electronic medical records system in the world, and My Health Manager — the personal health record portal for patients on KP.org.
“We’re excited for our members to connect with their doctors through this new and convenient digital feature,” said Grant Okawa, MD, associate medical director of Knowledge Management at Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. “What’s truly innovative is that the photo will also go directly into the patient’s medical record, which allows our integrated care teams to more efficiently and effectively consult on a case.”
In addition to images, patients will also be able to digitally send PDFs to their doctor, including documents such as work forms that require a physician’s signature.
