Breaking ground on a second location in Pueblo, Colorado

Acero Medical Offices to open early 2019

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Kaiser Permanente executives will be joined by local county officials for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the beginning of construction on the new Kaiser Permanente Acero Medical Offices. The ceremony is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 12:30 p.m. The facility will provide Kaiser Permanente members with a second, convenient location on the south side of Pueblo.

Located at 2625 West Pueblo Blvd., at the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard and Acero Avenue, the Acero Medical Offices is expected to open in early 2019. The 8,200-square-foot facility will provide access to primary care, specialty care, laboratory, pharmacy and routine medical imaging services — all under one roof.

“Our membership in Southern Colorado continues to grow and we are committed to expanding our services to better serve our members. We’ve been working to offer more convenience and this new location was ideal to provide another access point for our members in this part of the community,” said Holly Kortum, Kaiser Permanente’s executive director in Southern Colorado. “Our Acero Medical Offices will make it easy to see a doctor, pick up a prescription, or have blood work done all in the same building.”

The Acero Medical Offices is a part of a larger, multi-year plan to expand in Southern Colorado, which included opening the Parkside Medical Offices in central Colorado Springs and the addition of pediatric care to the Briargate and Parkside Medical Offices, also in Colorado Springs. Specialty care was added and the number of local Colorado Permanente Medical Group physicians in Southern Colorado increased; today there are 15 primary care physicians, eight specialists and eight hospitalists — with more specialty care to come.

Pharmacy hours have also been expanded to include Saturday hours at all three of our Southern Colorado locations, and after-hours evening care is now offered at the Parkside Medical Offices.

While specific staffing plans are still in the works, the new Acero Medical Offices will employ approximately six health care professionals, including two physicians, nurses, technicians and administrative staff.

“By offering high-quality primary care and services at the Acero Medical Offices, while continuing to work with our diverse network of local physicians, we can meet the unique needs of our members in this community,” said C. Rocky White, MD, Kaiser Permanente’s Southern Colorado market medical director.

Kaiser Permanente has also increased its commitment to health technology by launching several virtual care options to provide convenient access to care when and where our members choose. These services include e-visits, video visits, email and phone. Kaiser Permanente also launched a new on-demand service called “Chat with a Doctor.” The service is an online platform that allows all Kaiser Permanente Colorado members to securely interact with a Kaiser Permanente physician in real time, for questions or advice.

As a nonprofit, Kaiser Permanente is committed to improving the health of its communities. Since 2010, Kaiser Permanente has donated more than $3.1 million to Southern Colorado nonprofit and community based organizations to improve access to safety net clinics, educate the public about food insecurity, bolster physical activity for schoolchildren, and address teachers, students and school staff’s mental health needs.
