U.S. News & World Report annual study distinguishes Kaiser Permanente as a leader for quality and service.
Kaiser Permanente has been recognized as among the “Best Insurance Companies for Medicare Advantage” in all geographic areas we serve, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual study.
Kaiser Permanente provides care to nearly 1.7 million Medicare members in 8 states and the District of Columbia.

In order to assess the nation’s Medicare Advantage plans and compile its ratings, U.S. News analyzed health plans’ Medicare Advantage offerings in each state based on the recently announced Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 2020 Star Quality Ratings. In CMS’ 2020 ratings, Kaiser Permanente Medicare Advantage health plans in California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, the Mid-Atlantic states (Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C.), and Washington received 5 out of 5 stars, CMS’ highest rating. The Kaiser Permanente Medicare plan in the Northwest earned 4.5 out of 5 stars, CMS’ second-highest rating.
According to U.S. News, a “Best Insurance Company for Medicare Advantage” is defined as a health care organization whose plans were all rated at least 3 out of 5 stars by CMS and whose plans have an average rating of 4.5 or more stars within the state.
