The One Colorado Education Fund recognized Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (or LGBTQ) community during its annual Ally Awards.
Jandel Allen-Davis, Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s vice president of Government, External Relations and Research, accepted the award on Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s behalf.
One Colorado is a statewide organization dedicated to securing and protecting equality and opportunity for LGBTQ Coloradans and their families. One Colorado celebrates the work of “allies” each year because of their tremendous ability to change the hearts and minds of Coloradans — and because their courage is an incredible asset to One Colorado’s work.
The evening culminated in an awards presentation to four allies (see below) who worked to advance equality and make a substantive difference in the lives of LGBTQ Coloradans. ( Watch a short video that highlights why Kaiser Permanente was singled out for this honor.)
“Kaiser Permanente received One Colorado's Ally Award for our work to provide high-quality care to the LGBTQ community, including our work to assure that transgender benefits are available for those who need them,” said Allen-Davis. “I’m so proud to work for a health care system that believes that when we take the best care of our members, patients and communities, we all Thrive!”
With more than 400 guests in attendance every year, One Colorado hosts a diverse and influential group of civic, community and business leaders whose power and leverage reach every corner of the state. In addition, One Colorado welcomes a large, bipartisan contingent of elected officials — from city council members to sitting United States senators — from across the state to join them for this unique celebration.
“As a first-timer attending the One Colorado Ally Awards, I was humbled and grateful to see so many people and organizations coming together to affirm each other, especially this year,” said Debbie White, a Kaiser Permanente member and wife of Rocky White, MD, the Kaiser Permanente market medical director for Southern Colorado. “It was gratifying to see how Kaiser supports One Colorado and the population they serve.”

Allen-Davis summed up the evening for the Kaiser Permanente Colorado team in attendance at the August 26 event when she commented, “It was a night for us to be proud to be Coloradans and Kaiser Permanente employees!”
