Kaiser Permanente plans to vaccinate more than 19,000 Coloradans in one weekend.
DENVER — Kaiser Permanente is kicking off a series of weekend mass vaccination events for Colorado educators, child care workers, and seniors age 70 and above, beginning Saturday, Feb. 13, and Sunday, Feb. 14. The state’s largest nonprofit health plan expects to administer more than 19,000 COVID-19 vaccinations by appointment at 16 medical offices along the Front Range in the first weekend alone. These mass vaccination efforts will be held for several weekends to administer first and second doses to these groups.
Over a 3-week period, at 14 locations, Kaiser Permanente plans to vaccinate more than 50,000 pre-K through12th-grade educators, and child care workers in licensed child care programs. In addition, Kaiser Permanente will open 2 mass vaccination locations Feb. 13 and 14 for Coloradans age 70 and above, with the goal of vaccinating more than 6,000 seniors in those 2 days.
“Kaiser Permanente is proud to support the state’s efforts to vaccinate as many Coloradans as possible. Focusing on teachers and at-risk populations is an important step toward ending this pandemic,” said Mike Ramseier, regional president for Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. “We’ve mobilized a massive effort to administer these vaccinations and I want to thank all of our staff and physicians who are stepping up to help during this challenging time.”
“For nearly a year, our physicians and care providers have worked around the clock fighting this pandemic — and the work is not over. We’re fortunate to have a unique care delivery system that allows us to provide these vaccines to Coloradans. It’s one more way we continue to deliver on our mission of improving the health of the communities we serve,” said Margaret Ferguson, MD, president and executive medical director of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group, which provides care to the 600,000 members of Kaiser Permanente in Colorado.
