The benefits of vaccination for mom and baby outweigh any known or potential risks.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has many of us feeling concerned. That’s especially true for pregnant people, who are at increased risk of severe illness, death, and pregnancy complications from COVID-19.
“A growing body of evidence confirms that the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any known or potential risks,” said Dipika Dandade, MD, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist.
Despite that reality, only 31% of pregnant people in the United States were fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as of September 2021. That’s why Kaiser Permanente is urging all people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant, or who might become pregnant in the future to get vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
