Narayanan “Nari” Gopala is chief digital officer for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals.

As chief digital officer, Gopala leads cross-functional teams to transform a full range of digital experiences in service to the organization’s 12.5 million members and its clinical workforce.

He reports directly to Kaiser Permanente’s executive vice president and chief information and technology officer with joint accountabilities to the chair and chief executive officer. 

Gopala oversees Kaiser Permanente’s member app and website, kp.org, including its digital strategy, user experience, and ongoing enhancements, which have received numerous industry accolades such as Webby Awards’ People’s Voice winner in 2022 and Design Company of the Year by Fast Company in 2022.

Gopala joined Kaiser Permanente in 2021 as vice president of capability and platform engineering.

He brings over 25 years of experience leading global digital platforms, including prior leadership positions at Amazon Web Services and Sony Online Entertainment.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology — Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, and earned an MBA in high technology and innovation from Northeastern University in Boston.
