To provide high-quality, affordable care to the nearly 12 million members we serve, we must also address the health of the 65 million people who live in the same communities as those members. Healthy individuals need healthy communities and healthy communities need healthy individuals. The two go hand in hand.
Nowhere is the need for community-building higher than with those communities that have the fewest resources, support and energy. These communities also tend to face the greatest obstacles to receiving even the most basic care.
