KAPOLEI, Hawaii —Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, the state’s largest integrated health care provider, announced that it has partnered with Consolidated Theatres to open a mass vaccination site in Kapolei, at 890 Kamokila Blvd. Individuals who are part of phase 1c, which includes people 65 years of age and older and front-line essential workers, will have access to COVID-19 vaccination appointments at the theaters starting on March 30. Both Kaiser Permanente members and nonmembers are eligible. All shots are by appointment only. Register at kp.org/covidvaccine.

The large physical space and ample parking at Kapolei Consolidated Theatres will allow Kaiser Permanente to vaccinate up to 2,000 people per day. This is the latest in Kaiser Permanente’s vaccination efforts, which have included 3 mass vaccination events, daily vaccine administration by appointment at its various medical offices across the state, and outreach events in underserved communities.

“We are committed to improving the health of the communities we serve and we’re very fortunate to partner with Consolidated Theatres, a 100-year-old Hawaii institution,” said Greg Christian, president of Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Health Plan and Hospitals. “This mass vaccination site is just up the street from our soon-to-open new West Oahu Medical Office. Bringing all these enhanced services to the area makes it much easier and more convenient for West Oahu residents to be vaccinated and starting April 5 receive the care they need close to home.”

“We’re delighted to be able to provide another option for Hawaii residents to get their COVID-19 vaccinations, just as more people become eligible to receive them,” said John Yang, MD, president and medical director for the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. “Having another mass vaccination center in Kapolei should make vaccination easier for the many ‘kupuna,’ essential workers, and medically vulnerable who live in West Oahu.”

“We are honored to be part of this effort to help our community,” said Rod Tengan, division manager of Consolidated Theatres. “Vaccinations will allow us to safely enjoy everyday pleasures again like going to the movies.”

Kaiser Permanente has administered more than 58,000 doses of vaccine in Hawaii, and operates multiple vaccination sites around the state:

Oahu: Honolulu, Waipio, and Koolau Medical Offices; Moanalua Medical Center; Nanaikeola Clinic; and now the Kapolei Theatre mass vaccination site, starting March 30

Maui: Maui Lani Medical Office, Kihei Clinic; Mass vaccination events at Wailuku Medical Office

Hawaii Island: Hilo and Kona Medical Offices

Kauai: Lihue Clinic, starting March 31

In addition to established vaccination sites, Kaiser Permanente is also reaching out to underserved communities and delivering vaccines. They have held 8 events in partnership with community centers, native Hawaiian and Pacific Island nonprofits, and the Hawaii Public Housing Authority. These efforts align with Kaiser Permanente’s mission to improve the health of the community and aim to lessen the significant barriers underserved populations face in seeking health care services like vaccinations.

Eligible Kaiser Permanente members can schedule their vaccination appointment online at kp.org. Those not already registered on kp.org are encouraged to register today by visiting kp.org/register. Nonmembers may also sign up for a vaccination appointment online by going to kp.org/covidvaccine.

Kaiser Permanente members and nonmembers who have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine can call the public vaccine hotline at 1-855-550-0951 (TTY 711) or visit kp.org/covidvaccine.

More convenient health care services under one roof will soon be available to Kaiser Permanente members at the West Oahu Medical Office at Kapolei opening on April 5. The brand-new, 40,000-square-foot facility will be 3-times larger than the current West Oahu facility with over 40 exam rooms. It will offer urgent care with extended hours on nights, weekends, and holidays; women’s health services; primary care for families; mental health services; imaging; and a full-service pharmacy.
